"Joe. I really enjoyed the Cormac Russell, ABCD video, today but couldn't register my support for both him and the video. Is there any way one can get in touch directly with him and, does, for example, he work in England.  Peter Durrant."

"Joe. See you are on-line, magnificent rallying song for us all in the best radical folksong tradition and I've sent it to the BBC and others. And perhaps we should all, hopefully, wait to see a response. Peter Durrant."

The ageing population lacks a radical perspective,

which includes myself now retired following years of vol-org, social services, community development work and social and community enterprises. I live in Cambridge and one of my problems is, and again this might be an ageing problem, is finding radical community activity thinking that is prepared to work co-operatively with other groups. One of my interests is Rainbow Saver Credit Union Ltd which stretches across the East Anglian Region but which is based in Lowestoft. Others are vol-orgs of…See More

What brings you to NatCAN?
As a seventy-something individual with a vol-org, community development and social enterprise background I'm looking for ways of continuing these interests. Whilst living in a location which, arguably, is failing to development a dialogue around community development theory and practice.

Peter.  Yes, I'm still working, as a self-employed consultant in economic development and regeneration, particularly from a community and social economy perspective, and in social auditing.  However, over the coming months, I shall be trying to focus on finishing some longstanding research on social enterprise.  I'm looking forward to next Friday's event, and hopefully it will be inclusive and participative, as well as offering some radical thinking and opportunities.  We'll see!  Best wishes, Mike

Hello, Peter.  Thanks for your message.  Your name does sound familiar, but I think you must be thinking of someone else.  I'm 60 and have lived and worked in various different parts of England (including - from 1974 to 1987 - Birmingham, Newcastle Upon Tyne, London, and Workington), but - since 1987 - my home has been in Basildon, Essex, though I also spent most of 2002-6 in Sheffield.  I'm planning to be at the NCIA/TUC conference next Friday.  Will you be there?
